Here’s a look at how some of the top selling gas grills perform according to Consumer Reports lab data. Red areas represent the ability to sear a steak at 500° F. Temperatures show are after ten minutes of preheating.

Methodology: Temperature patterns created using CR’s preheat test data (collected from thermocouples distributed evenly across grill grates, recorded 10 minutes after turning burners on high).
